Music therapy

Music therapist registered with the Australian Music Therapy Association and have Master’s degrees. We use elements of music and neuroscience to enhance, develop and maintain the health, functioning and wellbeing of our clients and use various musical interventions (including adapted singing and instrumental lessons) to achieve their musical and non-musical / NDIS goals. We work within several frameworks but ultimate work within a person-centred, strength-based holistic approach.

Sessions are mostly client-led and use music and musical play (creation, re-creation, improvisation, receptive, adapted lesson and NMT) to not only engage, interact and communicate with our clients, but to also provide them with a safe, familiar, fun and motivating environment.

Assessment process:
For our new individual programs, we book clients in for an initial 3 session assessment period to establish therapeutic rapport and assess their needs, functioning, emotional wellbeing, responses to musical stimuli, behaviours that may indicate how the brain is processing the music and their musical preferences.

From here, we provide an assessment report outline the potential goals and areas of need and invite the clients to book in further sessions based on the findings of the assessment.

Programs are then typically booked in session blocks – clients and families are encouraged to have input in their music therapy program goal and objectives as well as their Support Plan that outlines how therapeutic outcomes will be measured
